In walking distance from the hotel you can see the gilded equestrian statue Friedrich August II, named August the Strong. It is situated at the outset of the Hauptstrasse, facing the Elbe River and the Augustus Bridge.
Dresden’s Royal Palace is situated at the center of the Altstadt (old town). The Castle was rebuilt in a neo-renaissance style at the beginning of the 20th Century, previously it was the axis of power for the Saxon Electors and Kings.
From the vantage point of the Hausmann’s Tower one can enjoy magnificent views over the rooftops of Dresden. The castle itself houses a number of exhibitions, the most visited is without doubt the breathtaking treasure chamber of August the Strong, now recreated in the Green Vault and considered Europe’s foremost treasure chamber museum.
Picturesque Castles, bridges and vineyards dot the hills beside the Elbe River during an upstream tour with Germany’s oldest paddle steamers - destination Pillnitz Castle and park. The largest European park in Chinoise style also impresses with the world´s oldest camellia in its very own high-tech greenhouse.
The Moritzburg Castle exhibits the world´s largest and most significant collection of hunting trophies, it also houses the legendary Feather room. You may use the nostalgic narrow-gauge railway to get there. Equestrians will also find an excursion to the 180 years old Saxon county stud farm very worthwhile.
